Accommodations

Check in time is 4 p.m. Leslie will meet you at the farm house at 4 p.m. or the ETA (estimated time of arrival) that is communicated ahead. You will be shown the farm house upon arrival (masks and physical distancing) and you will be given a set of keys to come and go as you please. Please call Leslie in advance if there is any change. Check out time is 11 a.m. Should you require a later check out please advise as we try to be flexible whenever possible. We look forward to having you here. Please feel free to call with any questions.

Waivers - must be signed by EACH person upon arrival. The coordinator of the group is responsible to ensure these are signed, collected and to notify Leslie once completed so that she can pick them up. This is a mandatory requirement of the insurance company.

Mask Usage -Under instructions issued by the local Medical Officer of Health, businesses in Northumberland County have a policy in place that requires people to wear a non-medical mask or face covering before entering their commercial establishment. You do not need to wear a mask when in your own room or cabin or outside but a mask is required when in the farm house if there are others present. Please maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet from staff and volunteers.

Additional guests - if there are more guests than originally booked the host must be notified and payment can then be completed directly to Fells Meadows. This includes day guests @$40./day. There is to be no camping unless the hosts have made agreement for this. Any violation of the number of guests may result in forfeiture of funds paid & eviction from premises.

Parking - there is lots of room by the farm house for vehicles. If there are more than 5 vehicles please have some park behind the larger barn (unless in the winter). Your host can show you the area if need be. Access around beside and in front of the small barn and big barns and the laneway to the house next door must remain clear.

Linens - Linens are provided. As a conscious environmental practice we greatly appreciate guests using one face cloth and towel during their stay. If you plan to use “Haven” (cabin on the hill or in the meadow) then sheets are available to take to the cabins.

Smoking - There is absolutely no smoking in the farm house, cabins, yurt or in any of the outdoor buildings. Careful and considerate outdoor smoking is acceptable. All cigarette butts MUST be safely disposed of in the garbage.

Toilets - The farm house is on a septic system. For groups we ask that only soiled paper be put in the toilet. Flush when need be. A clean container will be available in all bathrooms for tissue, non soiled toilet paper, feminine products, etc.

Guests - Please ensure that the number of guests noted on your booking is accurate. There are to be no pets unless previously arranged through and agreed upon by the host. Please advise us if there are children and/or youths. The hosts must agree as part of the group before you book. Parents are fully responsible for their children and or youths. You are welcome to move certain items in the farm house or buildings out of the way of children or if it’s helpful for your group. They are to be returned to their original spot before check out.

Water - The property is on safe well water. Many people prefer to use spring water for coffee/tea and drinking water because the indoor water is on a softening system. We will provide one large jug of spring water (approximately 15 litres). We suggest you consider bringing a jug(s) if people are avid water drinkers and you prefer spring water. Extra jugs may be available in the nearby general store.

Yurt & Cabins - Shoes and boots are to be removed in the main foyer of the farm house or in the entrance to the yurt or cabins. There is to be no food or drinks (exception of water) in the Yurt and the cabins. To avoid stains on the wood, if water spills, please be sure it is wiped dry immediately. The cabin is to be utilized for sleeping only if there are over 10 overnight guests. This must be agreed upon with the host. There is a surcharge of $20./night for heating each cabin. There is a propane stove in the yurt which may be used if you’ve booked use of the yurt.

Heating & Cooling - If it’s cold outside, we will light the masonry which is a main source of heat for the farm house. (Extra heating is baseboards) You will be shown how to close the damper for the masonry. The doors of the masonry (main door and bread oven door) are NOT to be opened at any time by guests. Upon arrival we will provide instructions for the wood stove and fire place in the living/dining area.

Bicycles & Camping - Bicycles and road bikes are not allowed on Fells Meadows  trails because of the wildlife. There are many nearby trails for bicycles in Northumberland County. Camping is not permitted unless agreed upon ahead of time.

TV - There is a 42 inch Smart TV and DVD/Blu Ray player in the living area. There is not cable or TV service but you are welcome to use any of the movies provided and to bring a couple along should you desire to do so.
